New from the Northeast!

Unread post by DownhillA4 » Thu Sep 06, 2012 9:02 pm

Hey guy's,

Been lurker here for about a year but all your events have been on the West Coast. I'm from New Jersey and been a long time rally enthusiast. I've been into long distance driving since I was a kid, always loved getting in the car and just going. Now that i've become older... car show's that are spent all day sitting in a paved parking lot for hours has lost it's fun for me and made me question why do I actually modify my vehicle. I've slowly been transitioning funds over to more gadgets and items that help bring out the most of the vehicle.

With that... I own a 2004 Audi A4 1.8T.

Some of the more "cool" mods are:

Ventureshield Clear Film (Hood, Bumper, Fenders, Headlights, Foglights, Rear Quarter Panels)
Revo Stage 1
2010 S4 Front Brakes (Calipers/Rotors/Lines/Carriers)
Bilstein/H&R
TT Downpipe
Magnaflow Exhaust
RNS-E OEM Navigation Unit
Garmin Navigation Unit
Magellan Navigation Unit
Midland 75-822 CB with Lil' Wilson 36" Antenna
Escort Redline
Escort SC55
Podi Boost Gauge
Recaro S4 Front/Rear Seats (no more numb butt after 4+ hours in the car)
And spending time on keeping the car up-to-date with plenty of Preventative Maintenance as this is my Daily Driver.

Photo's from NC mountains on my non-stop 16 hour drive back from SoWo in GA.

I have done alot of research and time behind the wheel, hoping to do a cross-country rally one day but the true enthusiast rallies have become littered with the fame and partying rather than driving. Hope to meet alot of you on the RNA New England Rally 2013 that share the same interest as I... driving our cars!

Thank's guys! Really excited to be apart of the 2013 new England rally, been slowly prepping the car over the past 4 years for long distance drives, hopefully my Entry will make the 80 car cap. Already filled out the Registration Form.

I think you will fit in well with us. That was one of the motivating factors about other rallies is one they cost way too much, and two they lost some of what the rallies were about. Granted we don't do the whole break neck speeds or drive wreckless and put others in danger but we do.. absolutely have fun...

Few more gadgets to come before the rally. But my new wheels coming from Germany probably won't be on the car for RNA, would feel safer doing this driving on 17"s with alittle more rubber instead of 19's. sad

you still got plenty of time to try to get things in order though. hopefully it works out, if not just take it easy around the shady roads

Jon, actually RacerTCI had it correct. My 17"'s are currently on my car as they serve the purpose as my non-show wheels. the 19"s OEM Audi wheels should be here next month from Germany. Just bummed to run my 17"s because they look so pathetic. On the flipside, I know the 17"s will be a much nicer ride and I don't have to worry about harsh roads.

Thanks! Very happy I made the field, now preventative maintenance items are starting to get attended too over the next few months. Along with hotel rooms.

good plan. make sure you get all the small things figured out before the trip. which wheels are on it in the pics you posted above? those look nice, and still have some meat on the tire too haha

For sure! In the picture above was my summer wheel setup for 2012. They were sold earlier this Fall. They were 18x8.5" wheels with Conti DW 225/40 tires (slight stretch).

ah I see. I know its bit in the Euro scene, but I don't suggest running much of a stretch for the trip up here. I know people who daily cars with it here in Bangor, but I don't know what we're going to be going on for roads and the last thing you want is a bead to let go. either way your in for one great experience!

Exactly. I run plenty of meat on my 17's which is why I will be using them during the Rally next summer. My 19" wheels coming in from Germany have a pretty aggressive offset, so I have to run a 225/35 tire instead of a 235/245 series tires.

I'm super excited Jon. Look forward to spending some time with other's who enjoy driving!

good plan. glad to see another person in a Euro that actually wants to drive, most of the ones I know around here just want to park somewhere and admire how low the car is. I love those cars but I like driving mine haha its gonna be a great time, Tony and Scott never let us down
