First rally for Team Cheap Horsepower

Unread post by terrystasko » Thu Jan 23, 2014 2:06 pm

As the title says, this will be our first rally, and the wife and I are very excited. We are driving our high mileage 2005 GTO. I'm a little worried about breaking down because of lack of parts out there for her, but I guess that is part of the fun. :)
We are going to start our journey from the suburbs of Chicago and drive to Pittsburgh, pa (our hometown) before making it down to West Virginia, so hopefully we contend for the "long distance award"
:champ:
Question: Is there an award for most beers drank at the hotels?

Good luck to everyone!

Great to have you guys on board! You will have a blast....

And you have some contenders for most beer drank after each night...

I'm in the same boat as you with tough to find parts, we are driving a 1993 Twin Turbo 300ZX... no parts anywhere, ever, anywhere, ever... lol.

That's what is crazy about this event for me! Usually I'm the "red headed step child" in the corner with the only GTO.

Since CCGTO first entered this event 4 years ago, GTO's have been the most popular car entered.

No problem...I like mustangs...my 16 year old niece has a red one. :)
Just kidding.
My new goal is to recruit as many GTO owners to this event as possible...mainly for spare parts :)

Don't use that for an excuse, "tracking the goat". If i understand correctly...and I may not, u r worried about beating it up too much? I'm going to race the hell out of mine exactly a month before the Rally at Road America! I'm probably jinxing myself with this post. :(

Since I will be doing a track day on the main course July 5th & 6th, there is no way I will take the GTO on a 3500 mile trip that starts the next day.

I beat on my Trans Am day in and day out before both of my rallies. It didn't work out too well for me in 2011though, and I ended up having to bring the truck. Lmao.

Yeah I'm not too comfortable either with the fact that I am racing the old GTO 4 times before the rally...including a run at 'Road America' which beats the her up pretty good.
Oh well, 'no guts no glory' I guess. :)

Had a question...How many of u are using CB's?
I hate to install one only for this event, but if it's worth it...

You can always use a hand held CB if you don't want to do an install.
