Yup, Team David and Isaac in a 911-powered Porsche Boxster won the $500. I checked the test and times a dozen times, and while I could tell (by the times) they stretched the car's legs, they were within 2 minutes of the time limit.

lol, classic hammer the gas all the way....then take a short 'pit stop' before crossing the finish line. I have used this strategy before as well.

actually they took no pit stops at all. they barely made it. most teams made sure to finish at least 30-45 minutes ahead of schedule.
