Guys with GoPros or Contours?? On the fence?

Unread post by FlaHP » Sun Mar 20, 2011 6:17 pm

I just got one this week. For the money its a great little toy.

I am already getting add ons for the rally.

My buddy and I went out and filmed a bunch today and so far it works great.

I was really worried about it staying stuck to the side of the truck but it worked like a charm.

They are just like Gopro

http://www.amazon.com/Contour-Windshiel ... 07&sr=8-10

I am no expert since this is my first.

My buddy says the Contour has better sound.

So far I have yet to try HD but in the setting below it looks killer.

Its going to be a must for the Rally

This is what i got

That's what i have been doing but just with my point and shoot Sony Camera.

At the track they won't allow passengers so the gopro will be perfect.

So far the only thing I don't like is low light filming.

In day light it looks good.

good deal man! the mount I got for mine was like $5 and it works pretty well, so if you ever need multiple angles you could try that haha

Just found out I don't have anything to edit the gorpo format but I will upload a few clips to show what I took. Its just raw stuff but we wanted an excuse to take the truck out now that its back together.

Your like 10 minutes ahead of me man.

Just read up on that on the gopro forum. I hate editing but have a buddy that likes to. I just posted 3 in the build thread just to show what the camera can do. Oh and a reason to start working out the bugs in the truck.

oh, good deal. it was just something so you can cut out stuff you dont want if you need to, understandable if you dont like editing. I like it but I suck at it haha. that and my camera is pretty mediocre.

I just learn windows movie maker on my 10 year old PC so I have a ways to go. I hope to get a mountain of clips on the rally to put something together

My favorite clip was the rear facing but 70% needed to be cut.

It sure is spooky sticking a $300 camera to the side of a ride and then taking off. Lots of visions of it flying down the road in pieces lol

Just got a GoPro HERO. So far so good with learning how to mount, use and upload. My only concern is the number of SD cards needed to keep it recording in HD mode. It's hungry...

I'm borrowing one for the rally. I took it with me to the auto-x yesterday and got some pretty good clips. The sound is a little sketchy, so I'll have to figure that out.

yea those class 10s are pricey

I have a 16 and a 32 is on the way.

I really like the rear facing showing the back tire. nothing like smoke coming off when ya kick down at 30 MPH

Love my Go Pro Hero HD. Unfortunately when it snows and I have the car out, the snow I kick up causes ice to freeze over the lens.

I have 2 Flips cams that will be mounted via suction cups at the track and maybe a few spots on Skyline.

OK, I'm looking at getting a GoPro Hero. My question is this.....Is it really worth the extra cost to get the HD version, or would the non-HD version be fine for the rally and mountains runs??
I mean most of the videos will be posted on YouTube, so the quality is going to be down graded on upload anyway.

Definitely get the HD. I've used both and am not a big fan of the non HD. It seems like the non-HD that I used cought no sound other than wind too. I don't know why, but the HD was clear visually and in audio. The non-HD only had sub-par visual with crap audio.

No problem bud. I'm getting one of my buddy's Go Pro's for the rally (he has 1 of each). I'm really hoping he lets me use the HD, but I'll not complain either way since it's free, lol.
