And Keep it under 40k what would it be?

I'm thinking a JAG XKR 07 or newer might be the ticket

A couple of us were talking about that on this years Rally. I am thinking a Mercury Merauder would be a good one. Quick yet roomy, decent mialage while cruising and a big gas tank and trunk.

Jeff I think the Merc might be a bit big and slow plus it older so reliability comes into play.

Don't get me wrong I love my Fords and I am not buying a Jag but if I were to look again I think I could see me buying one. I you get one used they are relativity cheap. (They can be had for just over 30K) They have plenty of space, decent gas mileage, quick, (390 HP) very nice interior, good ride, decent handling.....Reliability maybe an issue and I know they cost more to maintain other then that i don't see a downside.

I always thought of getting something ridiculous for the rally. For 40K US......

I dunno. I was sad about not taking the T/A, but the SS was an awesome vehicle to do it in. Plenty of room in the back so crap wasn't in our way... Even loaded at over 6K, it was quick enough to keep up with alot of people. It was a comfy ride. It set high enough to drive over bump stops when I was on the wrong side of the parking lot.

The only downside was that I averaged 16mpg for the trip. Plenty of other things are going to get alot better than that, lol.

As far as for the $40k, I'll take my $20k truck. Ad $10k to supercharge it, get a lifting tonneau (the snaps got old), and do a couple other minor power-adders to get me into a solid 12, then pocket the rest and have a damn good time on the trip.

Chevy Avalanche. Lot's of room for equipment, spare stuff, tools, aux tanks and stuff.

Parts are easy to find on-the-fly, comfort is very adequate, speed adequate, handling is what it is but shear size will make up for it.

Add a little 3" lift and some tires and away we go!
Not sure which of the fleet will be employed in 2014...

My Trucks are always beaters (88 Ranger) and i like something to hug the corners on the twisty sections. The trucks i have driven always handle like a truck.

Mine definitely doesn't handle like it's on rails either, lol. It does well for what it is though, as a few people may or may not have gotten to see. I can hold my own as long as there's room, but the stinkin thing has the turning radius of a school bus.

Nice but not with"Rebuilt, Rebuildable & Reconstructed" on the title

I have been looking for a roller to do a domestic swap on but they are hard to find.

R33's and the new R35's are the only legal ones, they did all the American safety tests on the R33's and used that same info to import the 32's and 34's. when the government found that out they investigated and decided the 32's and 34's werent safe enough for us and started knocking on doors repo-ing them.

I found some on aurotrader, including the one from the first fast and the furious (right here in wi). You can't import them here any more, but you can get a legit one still.

I know a guy here that has a MKIV Supra that's a color called Quicksilver. Damn sexy car. I'm kind of odd ... so, if I was going to spend 40K on a vehicle just to rally around the country in, it would be a 70 Cuda.
