Also on iTunes. When I had an iPhone I downloaded that...didn't help me too much because I think I was the only one around here that used it! But we're rolling without a radar detector, so if everyone could report bears via CB that would be pretty awesome for us ;) Just gotta get my handheld CB now!

If you have time pick up an external antenna for that hand held. It will pick up pretty well by itself but without an external antenna you are not going to talk to anyone unless they are pretty close to you. I know, I made that mistake on my first rally and fixed it promptly for my second.

I need a co-driver!!!!!!!!

my co-driver dropped out due to work / his bosses medical condition. I've done rally essentially by myself while my co-driver was sleeping/dying, it wasn't fun, and from what I'm reading, I don't want to do this one by myself either. If you know someone who is willing to take next week off of work, I would be tickled pink if they could join me. No d-bags or fat chicks (will scrape). email me at kingjon at gmail dot com. Thanks

what is a good handheld to pick up? I have those shotty kmart specials that work great if the other one is in the car next to you, but not more than 50 feet away.

I have one of the shorty cheap ones it's good for about 200 yards.

Jonathan You want to attend the Pre-Rally meeting and hook up with another team that will work with you IF you cannot find another co-driver.

Jon,

There maybe we can get TJ to ride with you some.

There are quite a few teams that are rolling with groups... get some good two way radios and maybe a CB, and you'll have 50 co-drivers... :) TUNA is a good candidate!

If I said a Vespa, would he still be interested?

It has two seats and four wheels, and currently 2/3 of an exhaust system installed. Putting the last 1/3 on tonight.

As for the radios, is Amazon the best way to buy them, or should I buy one locally at a store, and where should I look? I don't want one that I have to install, so a handheld with external antenna would be fine. I just don't know CB's at all, so any help would be great.

Jon,

Tuna is a group of cars that travel together on the Rally...Last year it was Team Die Hard, Team Raptor, Team Canada, Team Mini, and a few they gobbled up along the way... this year they are getting even bigger...

CB-Radios you can pick them up at Radio Shack or walmart... I just have a cobra emergency radio.. but it has all 40 channels, but you should be able to pick up a decent one for about 40.00. You may even get one a truck stop somewhere cheap too.

The 30-mile radios are really only good for MAYBE 2. But they do work well if your close and gives a decent amount of communication ability.

I was trying to get a friend of mine at work to ride with ya but he is trying to save money :(

well, Team "Zee German and Zee Jew" is now Team "Forever Alone" for the time being. I'll check out The Shak this weekend since I have a $10 gift card to there.

I have some feelers out with some friends but it's hard to find someone else who can get off of work at the last minute for the entire week.

I got my CB and 2 ways of Amazon, spent about $70 for them both and theyre decent Cobra ones. not sure about you guys but if any of you have a .edu email account you can get Amazon Prime for free which is typically $70 something a year and it gives you free 2 day shipping on everything. just thought Id let you know in case any of you have the .edu's and need some last minute stuff.

Pay them in beer. Or I am sure you could put a sticker on your car "space for rent" and have a different co driver for each leg......that should cover expenses....Pick up a hot hitch hiker even....

I hear ya! going solo myself after loosing two co-drivers....... But I am not going to let loosing a co-driver take away from me having fun on my vacation. Got a CB, GPS, V1, satellite radio, two cell phones, Kodak ZxD vid, Nikon Digital cam, a case of 5-hour energy drinks, and a 36" ANIMAL riding along in passenger seat. LET'S GET THIS DONE !!! lol

I think Joe Dirt was one of the first movies I ever went and watched alone. The group I was meeting up with didn't get away from their lady friends soon enough to get to the theatre to watch what we originally planned (can't remember what that even was now). I said the hell with them and watched Joe Dirt because it looked better to me anyway. It reminded me so much of my childhood that I had to run out and buy it when it came out on disk.
