Shortbus decal? I can see it now!

BTW, tips on putting the decals on? So far what I've seen is make sure its uber clean, then use some soapy water to apply it....but where does the wax come in? OR should I even care because my car has a crappy paint job right now and if the vinyl takes paint off it's only helping strip it down for the new, better paint job I'm getting after the rally? (run-on sentence?)

I washed, clayed, waxed, used 25% Simple Green/75% water and applied carefully.

If I don't have RapidTac available I use rubbing alcohol and water. 1 cap full of the alcohol to a spray bottle of water.

I just waxed it up good and hoped for the best. Didn't do anything to wet the decals first. Just prayed and slapped them on, lol. I would have done it right if it weren't late and I wasn't in a hurry. They turned out pretty good though, so that's all that matters.

Only tip I can offer is that whatever solution you use, you don't need to spray all that much on there. I sprayed waaaaaaaay too much on with the first decal (small #s) and it was sliding all over the place. A quick squirt or 2 should suffice.

To anyone with decals to throw on still, you could always cover up any scratches or chips :)

Well, I just got mine finished up a little bit ago. I had 2 friends help me out and having the extra hands made the job SO much easier. I used a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dish soap. We wet the decals right before we attached them. It made them wet enough that we could "adjust them", but not so wet they wouldn't attach. It turned out rather good. Except for the one line that makes the line on the road on the big decal. It does not want to stay down. May have to "modify" that one a bit. We had a couple of the little smoothing plastic things that come with bondo kits. That made quick work of any major bubbles. They all came out rather good. The only thing that concerns me is the "Hagerty" stickers. I put them on my front fender between the headlight and wheel well. I'm really hoping it is ok on the paint and doesn't decide to take some of my new paint (about 4 months old) with it when they all come off. I'll get some pics up later once I get some good ones in the daylight. It took us about 3-4 hours to put them all on. But we took our time.

I was trying to save them since I will probably head home to WV for the 4th weekend, but since there are a few of you guys in the area, I hope to find you guys down that way. If there is anything exciting going on for the holiday weekend (shows/etc...) maybe we can get all the cars together.

Just saw this man. We're all getting together on the 2nd for a cookout at a buddy's place. If you're down this way, I'm sure he wouldn't mind you dropping in. On the 3rd, If I get my car back together by then (solenoid took a poop) I may drop down to Elkins for the show there. It's usually pretty nice.

I'm definitely heading back home to Buckhannon on Saturday. When and where is this show in Elkins? I may have to make the run over with my freshly stickered goat.

If you have concern about any of decals pulling up paint use a heat gun on them prior to taking them off. The heat loosen the adhesive and they should pull off much easier. Then you have to deal with the adhesive on the car.
